A global leader in architectural revolving doors and security entrance systems, Boon Edam, is further extending its operations in Australasia through a partnership with leading New Zealand door installation and service company Commercial and Industrial Doors

Boon Edam Australia Managing Director Michal Fisher says the two companies will partner nationally in the sales, installation, maintenance and retrofit of the entry technologies of Boon Edam, which has dozens of Fortune 500 companies among its global clients, including some of the world’s largest firms.Optimized-Tourlockpicturetwointerior

“Commercial and Industrial Doors is an acknowledged national leader in its field, being extensively involved with major private commercial and industrial clients, transport terminals and government agencies in access and security projects.

“They have also performed outstanding work in nationally important property and construction projects, including involvement in the rebuilding of large areas of Christchurch after the earthquake there.”

Complementing the Commercial and Industrial Doors partnership, Boon Edam has also entered into a similar alliance with the Auto Ingress Group in Australia, extending its comprehensive installation and service partnership capabilities on both sides of the Tasman.

Major benefits of the new partnership with Commercial and Industrial Doors include:

  • expanded availability of 24/7 service and maintenance agreements for existing, new and retrofit installations of Boon Edam technologies in public and private facilities, including office buildings, data centres, airports, healthcare facilities, shopping centres and retail outlets, major hotels, restaurants and national attractions visited by millions of people a year.
  • a greater range of choices nationally of world-class architectural entrance and security solutions from Boon Edam, drawing on its 140 years of global experience now complemented in NZ by the partnership with Commercial and Industrial Doors, which offers 24/7 service. Commercial and Industrial’s high service standards are already relied upon by some of New Zealand’s biggest banking, retail, food service, agribusiness, energy and construction businesses, as well as security-conscious government agencies.
  • greater on-the-ground expertise to benefit both existing and new clients of both companies, throughout New Zealand. Commercial and Industrial Doors’ local capabilities complement Boon Edam Australia’s in-house expertise and its direct links globally to the Boon Edam portfolio of advanced entrances solutions. Boon Edam’s solutions are focused on architects, builders, facility managers, property owners, new project developers and specifiers seeking entrances solutions which harmonise aesthetics with entry solutions that reflect the importance of facility entries as mobility hotspots in today’s security-conscious world.

Commercial and Industrial Doors Director Jeff Lee says his company, like Boon Edam, prides itself on range, service and quality of work.

Its installation and service team – including a strong architectural core –deals with “thousands” of automatic doors, including custom-designed types.

All operate in compliance with national health and safety standards, with IQP registration for the inspection, maintenance and reporting of automatic doors throughout New Zealand.

“Speed, security and quality of work are critical to customers’ business,” Lee maintains.

“A case in point was the work we did after the Christchurch earthquakes, when immediately post-earthquake – and even now – people were extremely fearful of being trapped in buildings.

“The importance of making sure exit doors were clear and operating as they should was very high, to the point that, if we didn’t attend to issues immediately, staff would threaten to walk out.

“We did building assessments after the earthquakes and going into offices that had been abandoned was eerie – like something out of a movie scene, where all the people just disappeared in the middle of doing stuff. It shows you how important access and egress can be in emergency situations.

“Good access and egress is also very important in public buildings, such as a new bus exchange we recently completed, which has in excess of 50 auto sliders installed.

“These are interfaced with the bus door control system to open and close as the bus doors are activated, which is important to both traffic flow and security.”

“Commercial and industrial facilities rely on quick, easy access to and from buildings to keep people and processes moving and secure. Without easy, safe, fast access, business can grind to a halt.

“As with Boon Edam, we provide strong ongoing solutions in which customers can have confidence today and into the future.”
